Privacy policy

We collect as little as the work allows, and we tell you exactly what that is.

Last updated September 4, 2026

What this covers

This policy applies to bit.audio (this site) and to the products we publish under it, including synth.ist. Where a product handles data differently, that difference is described below rather than buried in a separate document.

What we collect

Only what a request or a page load requires:

  • Email correspondence. If you write to us, we hold your message and address so we can answer it.
  • Server logs. Standard request data — IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp — kept by our host for security and diagnostics.
  • Nothing else by default. We do not run advertising trackers, and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.

Your audio

synth.ist runs entirely in your browser. Patches, recordings and settings stay on your device — there is no account, and no audio is uploaded to us. Where a future product records or streams audio, we will say so on that product’s page and in this policy before it ships.

Cookies and local storage

This site does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our products may use your browser’s local storage to remember your own work — a saved patch, a preference — which stays on your device and is never sent to us.

How long we keep it

Email correspondence is kept for as long as the conversation is useful, and deleted on request. Server logs are retained for a short operational window and then discarded.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@bit.audio and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

Our products are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update the date at the top of this page and describe the change here rather than replacing the text silently.
